“Partnering with Oral Health America has allowed our state coalition valuable resources and support regarding access to care, advocacy and education for the older adult population that simply does not exist elsewhere. It is a dream to work with a national organization that has made this a priority, so that we can address these issues at national, state and local levels. I encourage all state oral health coalitions to join their efforts and take advantage of all they have to offer.”- Beth Stewart, Executive Director, Texas Oral Health Coalition
About Oral Health America
OHA is a national 501 (c)(3) organization based in Chicago. OHA’s mission is to change lives by connecting communities with resources to drive access to care, increase health literacy and advocate for policies that improve overall health through better oral health for all Americans, especially those most vulnerable.
OHA is deeply committed to the oral health of older Americans through our Wisdom Tooth Project® (WTP), which marries several strategies in order to impact changes in health literacy, health outcomes, and policies that favor improvements in the health of older adults.
OHA believes that the inclusion of adult dental benefits in publicly funded health insurance is only possible through network expansion, and the best chance for success is two-pronged: including dental benefits in Medicare and supporting states re: Medicaid expansion.
We are contacting you as a valued advocate for aging and oral health in your state. OHA is interested in speaking with you to further discuss our program and the opportunity for us to work together.
OHA recognizes that for social change to occur at the national and state level we will need to build a multi-disciplinary coalition of external and internal partners to champion this cause and build a movement. It is not one of us, but all of us that are needed to raise concern for and inspire action to improve the mouths and overall health of older adults. To lead a movement that connects communities with resources and improves the oral health of older Americans, a broad swath of professionals and consumers must get on board.
