Baby Boomers Know Importance of Oral Health, but Need Coverage & Care

A survey conducted by WellPoint, Inc., a health benefit company, shows that 93 percent of older Americans believe good oral health is important to overall health.  However, only 4 out of 10 older adults say they currently have dental coverage.

Even among respondents with dental benefits, over half worry about how they will afford insurance upon retirement and about two-thirds say they lack information about dental benefits available upon retirement.

Medicare does not currently include a benefit for non-emergency dental care, which means that seniors have to find alternative means to pay for dental. If you are a low-income senior, we encourage you to use our Find Care tool, which allows you to search for affordable options in your area.
