Oral Health America Requests Greater Support for Older American’s Act

Oral Health America (OHA), the non-profit organization behind www.toothwisdom.org, recently submitted a written testimony to the U.S. House Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health & Human Services, Education and Related Agencies requesting 2016 funding for all programs administered under the Older Americans Act (OAA) be restored to at least 2010 levels.

The OAA provides federal programs that serve to meet the needs of millions of seniors and older Americans.  And though it’s understood that our Nation continues to operate amid a challenging budgetary environment, Oral Health America believes that proper federal investment in the Older Americans Act is critical to keep pace with the rate of inflation and to meet the needs of this ever-growing segment of the population through the multitude of services it provides.

Oral Health America has particular interest in Title III-D, Disease, Prevention and Health Promotion. We are requesting that at least $21,000,000 is restored because of the cost-effectiveness that health education, health promotion and disease prevention programs provide to the system.
