Study: Preventive Oral Health Plans Improve Dental Health Among Elderly

A recent study shows that having a preventive oral health intervention plan can improve the cleanliness of teeth and dentures among elderly home care clients.

A person’s oral health is intricately connected to their quality of life, nutrition and general health in older adults. The new study, conducted by University of Eastern Finland, also found that cognitive impairment in older adults also often meant a poor daily oral hygiene routine. This means that caregivers must pay special attention to the daily oral health routines of those they provide care for.
